1. I learned to be happy even when I'm exhausted. Waking up for early morning feedings when sleep is the only agenda can make anyone cranky. But that cute smiley face can make anyone's frown turn upside down!
2. I learned that I don't have to be perfect.
3. Snuggles and conversations with my daughter is more important than a spotless house. Although its important to try to pick-up something when baby sleeps. I am more content and can relax with her better when the house doesn't always look like a tornado hit.
4. It is important to make time for intimacy with my husband. Even if its a few minutes of snuggling and talking right before we both doze off for the night.
5. Poop, spit up, and boogers from your own child are not as bad as I thought. It all washes off.
6. My baby's safety and well-being is more important to me than I ever thought possible. How can one little bundle make me feel so... vulnerable!? In the best sense of the word.
7. No one can take care of baby like mom can. Ok fine- that's not true. Baby girl can live without her momma for some time. It makes me sad in a way, but its good for us to have time apart. It also makes time together THAT much sweeter.
8. Co-sleeping is not as bad as people make it sound. Yes, accidents happen. Its important to do it safely. But it can be the most wonderful thing in the world.
9. I love to wear her. As in moby wrap and ergo carrier. Those are lifesavers! It can turn a fussy baby into an angelic sleeping bundle within minutes. And I can do more than sit on the couch all day.
11. Stretch marks are ugly... and beautiful. They are a great reminder that I took part in creating a body for a special spirit. How cool is that?! Best accomplishment of mine so far.
12. Being a mommy makes me love her daddy even more. He is so kind and gentle with her, and really takes his role importantly.
I am so glad we made the choice to expand our family. Our life is so much sweeter with our baby girl in it!
